Our story began as a custom home building company with a mission to create comfortable and affordable homes for our clients. Over the last 8 years, our business has merged our design and build capabilities with smart energy usage and evolved to now provide energy generation.

In 2006, the management team of CustomSmart started building homes with state-of-the-art Modular Construction. We discovered that by using Modular building techniques, the energy consumption of our completed homes was significantly reduced, resulting in lower power bills for our clients! CustomSmart pursued additional avenues to further reduce energy consumption, including the production of EnergyStar and Green rated homes. These options provide a good return value without significantly driving up the costs and include heavy insulation packages, Geothermal, Dual Fuel heat & air systems, and LED lighting to name a few.

As we focused on reducing the energy load of our homes, we realized achieving a net-zero energy balance was possible by adding a Photovoltaic Solar Array. Our formal education in the Solar Energy Industry began in 2011, and we installed our first Solar Array shortly after. CustomSmart offers PV Solar on any home that we design and build, and we have several net-zero homes to our credit in the Upper East Tennessee Area. As word-of-mouth grew and our capabilities expanded, CustomSmart started offering our Solar sales, design, and installations services to customers with an existing home, farm, or business.
